Compare issues

Review ▸ Compare lays another issue over this one: one colour is in both, another only in the other issue, a third only in this one. Neither file changes, and Stop comparing puts the drawing back. Bring its markups across carries the old issue's markups onto the new, on a layer named after the issue.

02 · Text

Compare text, word by word

For the specification, report or contract that came back revised: both versions are read in reading order and compared word by word, punctuation as words of its own. A panel lists every change - added, changed (with what it was), removed - and Mark them turns them into highlights in one undo. CSV writes the list out.

Slip in the new issue

Pick the new issue and each sheet is matched to the one here by the drawing number on its title block, in whatever order either set is in. The plan is shown first. Applying keeps the markups on their replaced sheets - scaled when the new issue is plotted bigger or smaller - and can set them For Review so each is checked against the new drawing.

Questions

About comparing.

How do I compare two revisions of a drawing?

Review ▸ Compare lays another issue over the one open: what is in both, what is only in the other issue, and what is only in this one, each in its own colour. Neither file changes.

Can I carry markups from the old issue to the new one?

Yes. Bring its markups across puts the other issue's markups onto this one, where they were, on a layer named after the issue they came from.

Can it compare a specification or report?

Yes. Compare text reads both versions in reading order and compares them word by word, listing every addition, change and removal, and can turn them into highlights.
