In detail

Drawn the way
a reviewer works.

Whether it is an architect's design review, a services coordination round or a builder's site walk, the markups behave the same way.

01 · Tools

Every tool a review uses

Shift holds 45° and squares. Multi-point tools finish on Enter or a double-click, and Backspace drops the last point. Pen strokes become a smooth curve through what you drew, with pen pressure kept on a tablet.

  • ShapesLine, arrow, polyline, three-point arc, rectangle, ellipse, polygon
  • CloudsDrag a box or click a polygon; any shape can wear a cloud line style
  • TextText box, typewriter, callout, sticky note and table

  2. 02Line, arrow and polyline with 13 named heads
  3. 03Rectangle, ellipse and polygon, with corner radius
  4. 04Revision cloud: drag a box or click a polygon
  5. 05Text box that hugs what you type, or wraps to a width
  6. 06Callout with as many arrows as it needs
  7. 07Sticky note, typewriter and table
  8. 08Highlight, underline and strikethrough on the drawing's own words
02 · Callouts

Callouts that land where they should

A callout is two clicks: the tip, then the knee. The leader meets the middle of the box edge facing the knee, squared up onto it, the way callouts are drawn by hand. Drag the note and the tips stay on what they point at.

  • ArrowsSeveral, sharing a knee on the same side
  • BoxRectangle, rounded, ellipse, triangle or hexagon
  • TextFace, size, bold, italic, alignment, auto-size and auto font size

03 · Tool sets

Every discipline's standards, one keystroke away

A tool is a markup type plus every property it is drawn with: colour, weight, line style, subject, layer and its own settings. Each discipline has its own set on its own ribbon tab. Arm a tool with a number key, or switch to Apply and repaint markups that already exist to the standard.

  • DisciplinesMechanical, electrical, hydraulic and fire sets, plus review, takeoff and coordination
  • ShareExport a tool set file and hand the standard round the office
  • ImportTool set files from other PDF markup apps, symbols as sharp vectors
TOOL SET · COORDINATION
  • 1Clash, cloud with a comment
  • 2Hold, pending information
  • 3Route, a proposed service path
  • 4Setting out, a marked point
  • 5Zone, an area for a trade
  • Ctrl+Shift+VPaste in place on every sheet
04 · Layers

Layers, the way CAD keeps them

A layer is a record, not a name: its colour, weight and transparency, and four switches. Save the switches as a layer state - "architectural only", "for the client" - and bring them back in one go. Layers in a drawing you receive come in as layers of the same name.

  • On / offHidden and not printed, still in the takeoff
  • FreezeOut of everything: drawing, print, list and totals
  • LockShown and printed, nothing on it can move
  • PrintOn screen, off paper

05 · Review

A review you can run from the list

Every markup carries its subject, author, status, comment, layer and a reply thread. The markups list groups by sheet, status, author, layer or your own columns, with counts and summed measurements on every heading. When it is done, the summary goes out as a PDF report or a spreadsheet.

  • StatusesYour own list, in your own colours
  • ColumnsText, number, date or choice: trade, cost code, due date
  • SummaryPDF with markup snapshots, or .xlsx with live totals

Questions

About markup.

Can I draw a callout with more than one arrow?

Yes. A callout carries as many arrows as it needs. Arrows on the same side of the note share one knee and branch off the line that is already there.

Can we keep our own markup standards?

Yes. Tool sets hold each markup with every property it is drawn with - colour, line style, subject, layer - and can be exported and handed round the office. Tool set files from other PDF markup apps import directly, symbols included.

Can I report on the markups?

Review ▸ Summary writes a PDF report with a snapshot of each markup, or a spreadsheet (.xlsx) whose totals are formulas, so a quantity corrected there carries through.
