Mechanical · M-001

Ductwork, plantand pipework,drawn to size.

Lay supply and return ductwork out at its real size with its airflow and velocity, find the room for the AHUs and chillers, run chilled and heating water, and count every diffuser on the set.

The work

From the architect's
plan to a coordinated layout.

Find the space

Plant rooms, AHUs, chillers and risers at their real footprint, with the clear space in front.

Lay it out

Ducts and pipes to size, with bends, tees, reducers and risers read from the route.

Count and schedule

Diffusers and grilles found by symbol search; duct and pipe scheduled by size.

What you will use

The mechanical
tab, in detail.

01 · Ductwork

Ducts with their airflow

Rectangular, round, flat oval and flexible duct for supply, return, outside, exhaust, transfer, kitchen exhaust and smoke spill. Give a run its airflow and it reports the velocity against the limit for what it carries. Duct, pipe & tray →

02 · Plant

Room for the plant

Air handling units, fan coil units, chillers, condensers, cooling towers and exhaust fans at typical footprints, plant and AHU rooms, and a mechanical riser and cupboard, each a size to type over. Spatial planning →

03 · Pipework

Chilled water, heating water, condensate

Pipework in its material and size, with chilled and heating hot water running level and condensate falling to its grade. Diffusers, grilles and fan coil units are counted off the drawing by symbol search. Measurement & takeoff →

Questions

Asked by mechanical engineers.

Can it work out duct velocity?

Yes. Give a duct its airflow and it reports the velocity, against the limit for the service it carries.

Does it schedule ductwork fittings?

Yes. Bends, tees, reducers and risers are read from how runs meet and listed by size in the schedule.

Can I lay out diffusers across a room?

Yes. Place your diffuser symbol and fill the room with it in a grid, then count them by symbol search across the set.
