Plant rooms, risers & zones

Find the roombefore youneed it.

Space is the argument every project has early. Put plant rooms, risers, cupboards and equipment on the architect's plan at their real size, with the clear space in front of them, and let every discipline see what fits.

01 · Zones

Rooms, risers, cupboards and equipment

A room is traced round its walls like any area. A riser, a cupboard or a piece of equipment is placed with one click at its size - a 2000 by 700 cupboard is 2000 by 700 in the building whatever the sheet is plotted at - and resized by typing a number.

02 · Plant

Ready-made plant for each service

Each discipline's tab carries the plant it has to find room for, at typical footprints: air handling and fan coil units, chillers and cooling towers; pump sets, tanks and hot water units; plant, pump and tank rooms; and a riser and cupboard for every service.

03 · Schedule

A spatial schedule everyone reads

Every zone lands in the spatial schedule with its name, size and area, alongside the rest of the takeoff. The architect sees what the services need; the services see what they have been given.

Questions

About spatial planning.

What is a spatial zone?

An area takeoff that knows what it is: a room, a riser, a cupboard or a piece of equipment. Rooms are traced round their walls; risers, cupboards and equipment are placed with one click at their real size and resized by typing a number.

Does it show the clear space in front of equipment?

Yes. Cupboards and equipment carry their doors and the clear space in front of them, and they follow the zone as it is resized, turned or flipped.

Which plant comes ready to place?

Typical footprints for air handling units, fan coil units, chillers, condensers, cooling towers and exhaust fans; pump sets, water tanks, hot water units, backflow devices and gas meters; plus plant, pump and tank rooms, risers and cupboards for each service. Every size is a number to type over.
