Duct, pipe & tray

Services, drawnthe size theywill be built.

Not a line wearing a pattern. Click the route and a duct, a pipe or a tray is drawn to its real size at the drawing scale, with true-radius bends, implied fittings, and a schedule a supplier can price.

every service.

01 · Ductwork

Ducts with their airflow

Rectangular, round, flat oval and flexible duct at the sizes a sheet-metal shop makes. Give a run its airflow and it reports the velocity against the limit for what it carries; supply, return, outside, exhaust, transfer, kitchen exhaust and smoke spill each wear their own colour.

02 · Pipework

Pipes with their falls and inverts

Copper, PEX, PVC, HDPE, galvanised, stainless and cast iron at nominal sizes. Pressure services - cold, hot and heating water, chilled water, gas, fire water - run level; gravity services - sewer, sanitary, trade waste, stormwater, condensate - fall to a grade and report the invert levels they arrive at.

03 · Containment

Cable tray and ladder, with its fill

Ladder, perforated and solid-bottom tray, mesh basket, trunking and conduit banks, each with the marking that tells it apart on a plan. List what a run carries and it reports the cross-sectional fill against the 50% a design is usually held to.

04 · Fittings

Fittings implied, not drawn

Drop a branch onto another run and the joint is a tee, drawn as one. Two branches opposite are a cross; an end on a different size is a reducer; anywhere else an end cap. A riser counts the vertical length and its bends, and the tag says both levels. Move the branch and the tee goes with it.

Questions

About services runs.

Which services can be drawn to size?

Ductwork (rectangular, round, flat oval and flexible), pipework in copper, PEX, PVC, HDPE, galvanised, stainless or cast iron, and cable containment: ladder, perforated and solid-bottom tray, mesh basket, trunking and conduit banks.

Does it work out duct velocity and pipe falls?

Yes. Give a duct its airflow and it reports the velocity against the limit for what it carries. Give a gravity drain its grade and it reports the fall and the invert levels it arrives at.

Does it count fittings?

Yes. Bends, tees, crosses, reducers, risers and end caps are read from how runs meet, and the schedule lists them by size as a parts list a supplier can quote.

Can it check cable tray fill?

Yes. List the cables on a run, one per line, and it reports the cross-sectional fill against the 50% a design is usually held to.
